Ghana’s Trade Minister, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has expressed confidence in the ability of Ghanaians to take up the commanding heights of the Ghanaian economy.

Addressing the media after a visit to Dzata Cement, the first privately owned Ghanaian cement factory by business mogul, Ibrahim Mahama, the Minister encouraged Ghanaians to believe in the ability of local entrepreneurs.

“I’m appealing to Ghanaians to support the factory. It is in line with the vision of President Akufo-Addo in helping indigenous entrepreneurs. Let’s support the first-ever wholly-owned cement factory. It’s the success story of Ghanaian entrepreneurship”. Mr. Kyeremateng said.

The Minister was highly impressed by the fact that the company is led and run by a Ghanaian management team.

The visit by Mr. Kyerematen follows an earlier visit by Senior Presidential advisor, Yaw Osafo Marfo. The visit was to enable him have first hand information on the cement producing plant, located on a 10-acre land near the Tema Port.

The technology deployed for producing the cement is from Germany and was developed by Haver and Boecker.

The cement grade being produced by the plant is ordinary Portland cement, which is imported for the plant and then bagged.

The plant has the capacity to produce an average of 120 bags per minute from the two production lines.

Mr Osafo Maafo was welcomed at the plant by the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners Company Limited, Mr Ibrahim Mahama and was conducted round the facility in Tema.
